Cissbury Ring – The work I make is a process based investigation of walking – and its effects on mental, physical and spiritual health through putting one foot in front of another.

Walking on Cissbury Ring I was fascinated by the traces of human life. This popular site has been traversed by humans for thousands of years, full of lives and stories and millions of footsteps. Sitting quietly on the summit I realised that I could place myself geographically and  also within generations, a mere speck within the great span of time and space.

These drawings are about that contemplative space, like walking meditations, repeatedly re-tracing the number of steps to the summit and creating a space within them to breathe and to think.
